Facilities available for
all public to use include:
•Public Toilets
•Car Parking

•Lawned Picnic Area
•Under cover BBQ’s available

PLEASE
NOTE – As of November
2011 the road access around Lake Bullen Merri has been closed due to an
ongoing dispute regarding Public Liability Insurance between our local land
owners, DSE and Corangamite Shire. All are working towards a solution in the
near future. Fishing access is now mainly by boat from south beach or bank
fishing from North Beach
We at present as a club are unable to facilitate access to
the road but have been in contact with our local Members of Parliament and
local authorities as well as South Beach Committee of Management looking to
facilitate any early favourable outcome to this difficult problem.
DECEMBER 2011- At present users of the lake are advised to
check the Local Corangamite Shire Website for conditions on the lake as Blue-Green
Algea may be present over the summer period and at
times the Lake may be closed due for Health Safety reasons.
Each year the club
holds numerous events for local members, and helps with community events, one
such example being the 'disabled fishing day'. The lake facilities cater for
disabled anglers - with a Wheelchair Friendly fishing platform located close
to the Clubs facilities as well as the toilet and picnic area on the South
Bank.
If you’re not sure how to find the Lake
be sure to check out Google maps, and the 'Fishing Tips' may be worth a visit
as well. Once your here we hope you have a good day(s) fishing and we would
love to hear from you about your visit. If you are planning to stay a few
days and the clubrooms are booked then visit our friends at either the Manifold Motor Inn or Cascade Motel - mention this web
site and you might score yourself a discount on your accommodation!
Visit the fish identification page if you’re not sure what you've caught.
Drop Us a Line and tell us about your experience of the Lake,
in the future we will be adding a section to this site to allow catches to be
logged and recent catches displayed.
The 2011 Annual LAKE BULLEN MERRI
FISHING CLASSIC was held again
on 1st and 2nd October 2011.
We welcome and thank all our regular sponsors. Our Major sponsors from last
year – DOWLER CABINETS and FROGLEYS OFFSHORE continue to support our classic.
This year we are very excited and appreciate new sponsors in LOWRANCE, WIGSTONS LURES and our CORANGAMITE SHIRE. Without all our sponsors this event would not be possible. We
ask you to check our sponsor list and when you are in our area support our
local business sponsors as well sponsors from surrounding towns.
Good fish continue to be caught at both Lake Bullen Merri
as well as Lake
Purrumbete. Recent
catches at Lake Bullen Merri have produced Brown Trout up to 5 kg as well as
many large Rainbow Trout. Our 2011 fish release has included Atlantic Salmon
so all looks good for future fishing in our lakes in years to come.
Remember to 'Drop Us A Line' and tell us about
your catches, and if you have some photos you would like displayed let
use know and we will contact you about uploading them to the site.
Lake Bullen Merri is a Multi-Use venue being used for
activities including:
•Water Skiing- their is a dedicated run located towards the North West of the
Lake
•Sailing - each year a number of regatta's are held on the Lake
•Jet Skiing
•Swimming
The size of the Lake means that at times each of these groups may be present
at the same .
